location and mise en scene

For the location and mis en scene we have decided that there are many locations we will need to film such as:
1. bus ( but this will not be possible so we are going to use our local area)
2.Park
3. field
4.steps
5.River /lake
6.town ( crowd of people)
7.bridge

This is good however are these are all available in our town, so will be easily done and easily accessible.


Winning Pitch

As a group we chose jakes as the winning pitch as we thought as a group it would work best. As it is a boy band and as a class it would include everyone and would be effective. Previously there had also been boy band vids so this would work well. We think it will work well as props and locations are easily available. Costumes also will not be too hard to re create, and most importantly everyone will be included.

Feedback on Class Vid pitch

My feed back on my class vid was good some people enjoyed my pitch and thought it would be good to do for reasons such as it is a catchy song with lots of opportunities to develop but it will hard to directly to copy. The idea of the class vid was to directly copy so this would be hard to recreate a fair ground. However some people did vote for mine to be the winning pitch but it wasn't appropriate and would be hard to do in school time as we would need several locations and many people. There would not be a lot of lip synching , and the point of the exercise is to develop these skills.
Questions were asked such as:

          How will you recreate the fairground?
How are you going to get everyone in 1950s costumes?
Overall the out come was that my pitch and idea was good but some people also didnt like the genre as it was from grease the musical. As this wasn't particularly popular with the boys.Other pitches also seemed more appropriate and easier to do for class vid to incorporate everyone to a specific part in the group.

Steps involved in Planning

This is a list of steps taken for sufficient planning for this class vid. We will be covering these over the next week. we Started by watching the video and breaking up things to do listed below so one person doing each of costume and props needed , others locations needed. we eventually then could work out a track timing sheet and lip synching . Where each line is used and what shot. Evidently then we can create a call sheet for the final shoot and bring all these elements together.

costume and propps

We made a list of costume and suitable props which George made. We split the tasks up for someone to make a list of costumes needed and props we will need for each scene.

For costumes we decided it wouldn't be possible to get exactly the same costumes so we decided to go for the look and style one direction pursue this is typically not what teenagers would wear so things such as :

  • suits
  • Bow tie
  • Braces 
  • turtle neck
  • long coats 
  • general smarter wear
We have tried to come up with something similar to this such as wearing black , blazers , chinos and bow ties.

We decided that for our props we would need several things however some wont be possible such as the sofa at the end so we can use something similar to this such as a bench. There are scenes like this which we will need to recreate for example the bus scenes there will be new props created for these.
We came up with a props list:
Space hopper for the scene in the field

  • mic stand , guitar and instruments
  • banners 'i love 1d'
some of these appear on bus scenes so we have managed to come up with other things for this such as walking around our local area. We have managed to get together the costumes so this will not be problem. We have also asked teachers if they have a space hopper and a bike which we could use which they thankfully do. We have also asked our music department at school if we could borrow the mic stands and guitars for the crowd section.

Track Timing sheet

We worked together as a group to come up with a basic track timing sheet so we could work out the scenes and sequences that are repeated. This also helps with location and making our final call sheet. We did this by splitting the task between all of us and doing a section each. We then brought all this together to produce our final sheet. We also noted some things wont be possible to copy so we are going to change it such as the bus scene ,this wont be possible so we are going to change this and have something similar, which is yet to be worked out . so this is just stated 'bus shot'.

Now we have finished this we are going to split the group up to focus on thing to make up the call sheet such as different location , sequences repeated , costume , propps and casting.

FcProX mini vid jolly roger - TBC

Using the blade tool
How i used final cut  to edit my mini vid. I used tools such as blade , and select tool i also used key frames to change the volume and cause pictures to turn around together this was a very useful technique that i learnt it also helped me develop new shots which we did not have due to little footage. I also used layering techniques to help the continuity editing and make the shots fit more smoothly. I did this by layering and changing the opacity.



I created the key frame by clicking alt and then the appropriate places for movement to happen. 


I layered by importing clips and putting them on top of one another to build this up. 



To research how to do these i used several youtube videos to help me make the effects i added so successful 


I also used lots of affects such as under water tool and ageing tool to fit with the song.

I also zoomed in to shots and cropped and trimmed them to create new shots which we previously did not have.

My class vid

My idea is to do we all go together from grease the musical because i think it will be really successful to do.The film grease its self is set in the 1960s so i will play on this idea keeping intertextuality to grease its self but a more modern version. My plan is to have something similar to the video but have it in school and have more and more people getting involved through the school.The song is set in a fairground and the music video for this is the clip from the film but is well known across the world.This is the music video featured below which my idea will have a lot of intertexuality with it. I think this makes my idea a winner because lots of people can be involved including 6th form and still include our class as the main characters, i also think it will be fun to do the dance and have students and teachers dancing together !
